It’s now in writing, and National Parts Depot is proud to announce the Ford & Mustang Round-up will celebrate its 20th year in the newly renovated Silver Springs State Park on January 11th and 12th 2014!
Why the delay in announcing the show? Just after the 2013 Ford show had concluded, word came down that Silver Springs Park would pass from a privately ownership (under Palace Entertainment) to the state’s control on October 1st, 2013. To go with that, a ton of construction would take place to the park in the coming months. NPD’s Vice President Rick Schmidt didn’t want to announce a show without the assurance the park would be able to handle the 1,000+ cars and trucks our show typically brings in. After cancelling our annual All-GM Oktoberfest Show, Rick put in a ton of work to make the 2014 Ford & Mustang Round-up happen.
With the change in leadership for Silver Springs Park, changes to the park’s fee structure and attractions have taken place as well. Please check out the Silver Springs State Park website (click here) for more on the park.
With Silver Springs State Park now being under state control, it presented NPD with an opportunity to re-think the traditional 1,000-free offer and fees. In recent years, the number of older vehicles participating in the show has been steadily shrinking. The 1993-earlier crowd represents the lion’s share of our loyal NPD customers for whom this show has always been intended as our “thank you” gift. Thus for the 2014 show, registration is totally free to all 1993-earlier vehicles that preregister before January 1st 2014. Any 1994-later vehicles pay a modest park fee of $10 for the weekend, with no fee for additional passes. Any entry postmarked after 01/02/14 or a day of show entry will be subject to the park fee of $10 for the weekend (again, with no fee for additional passes). Please make no mistake, NPD loves and appreciates all of the beautiful cars and trucks that attend our Silver Springs event. But in the spirit of encouraging more of our customers to pull their “classics” out of hibernation, we devised the new rate structure. We feel that the $10 fee for 1994-newer cars is extremely modest, especially given the venue and the 2-days of access. And for cars containing more than two people, it actually winds up being far cheaper than previous years. 100% of the fees go directly to Silver Springs State Park, a National Treasure. We sincerely hope that our loyal late-model participants will view this change in the positive spirit in which it is intended, and continue to join us for a relaxing and top-notch event.
The 2-day show (Saturday and Sunday) also incorporates our traditional cruise to Cedar Key from NPD’s main warehouse in Ocala on Friday morning January 10th. Participants start gathering around 8 am, and all are welcome to tour/browse NPD’s extensive private car and truck collection (200 cars and trucks) before a short driver’s meeting detailing the cruise around 9-9:30 am, then the cruise departs. It travels through Ocala’s horse farm country at easy driving speeds on the way to scenic Cedar Key. The trip takes about 1-1/2 hours each way, and when arriving in Cedar Key participants can eat lunch, peruse the shops or enjoy the views of this small fishing community before returning to Ocala. NPD welcomes VMP Tuning on Friday afternoon, and they will be on-hand at our Ocala store with their mobile Dynojet chassis dyno. Anyone can participate and make two pulls with A/F ratio for $65. The highest pull will receive a goodie bag from NPD.
Show and cruise information, along with a hotel listing, is available on the NPD website (click here).
We hope to see you in January 2014!
